It decided not to start this morning. I’ve got plenty of battery (all the lights come on, sliding doors slide, etc.), I get a solenoid click, but it makes absolutely no attempt to turn over. Hoping it’s just the starter. I’ve got a call out to a mobile mechanic.

I got an early Christmas present in the form of a van (at work) that died last night and stranded a driver in the mountains in a snow storm. Sounds like the engine decided it didn’t want to be an engine anymore. At least the driver got back safe.

Sure sounds like the starter. They’re pretty easy to replace on most minivans since you have a transverse FWD layout in a wide engine bay.

Crazy idea, but try starting when the door is sliding. If it still slides smoothly, you know it’s the starter. Those doors draw a lot of power, but also have their own beefy relay.

Starter, solenoid, or loose terminal. If the battery is accessible, try grabbing a hold of both terminals (one at a time) and turning them. If one or both turn, tighten them up and try starting it again.
